This article deals with aspects of the process of identity constitution of black people, associated with the emerging perspective of literary production and social thought called Afrofuturism and Afrothinking, throughout the 21st century in Brazilian society. In this sense, the research sought to understand the position between identity and the formation of the conception of a nationality, relating them to literature from the emerging Afrofuturist genre. The research problems that guided the study were: which places did black people occupy in the structure of Brazilian society during its nationalist formation? What social and historical characteristics do the Afrofuturist literary genre and the Afro-thinking perspective have in 21st century Brazil? Based on bibliographical research and the intentional selection of elements that make up the identity of black Brazilians, this study presented the following results: the definition and conceptualization of a fragile modern identity; how Brazilian literature has constituted itself as a means of affirming or erasing identity; a presentation of the Afrofuturist literary genre and its concepts related to Afro-thinking.
