An analysis of education in the prison system of Cáceres-MT

This article seeks to reflect on the teaching practice of professionals who work in the educational context of the prison system, based on the experiences of the researchers of this study who work in the Public Prison of Cáceres-MT, focusing on the challenges faced, especially in times of crisis - such as the one resulting from COVID-19. Anchored in a bibliographical research, the objective of this article is to highlight the theme of the right to education that people in situation of deprivation of freedom have, from the main conceptions about education in the prison system, highlighting how is the teaching performance within this context and the challenges that are presented. As a result, it is expected to identify, from the reality of the prison system, how education in prison can constitute an auxiliary tool for the construction of citizenship and, consequently, in the return of individuals inserted there to social life, armed with effective perspectives for the (re)construction of their lives.
