Abstract

In the development of research related to Classical Studies, one of the greatest challenges to be faced is the fragmentary nature of the available documentation, whether written or material culture. The vast majority of what was produced in the period of Classical Antiquity has not reached us. With rergard to written documentation, another factor to be considered is that it was not produced by authors representing the most diverse social, economic or political conditions that exist . Such “limitations” should not cause the researcher’s actions to be unfeasible. Addressing them makes it crucial to have a variety of options to be made concerning theoretical bases and methodological tools. In this article, we will address the association of certain research strategies that we use at certain times in our practice in order to contribute to an understanding of Classical Antiquity that is increasingly interconnected to theoretical issues in the field of History and its Teaching.
