Reflecting on the role of language in Aristotle and Wittgenstein

Abstract

This paper aims to produce a brief reflection about the role of language in Aristotelian conception, presented in his book De Interpretatione, and establish some comparisons between this perspective and some others from precursors of the “linguistic turn”, more precisely from the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. In order to deal with this question, we will explore Aristotle’s book De Interpretatione and also Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations, as well as studies from others commentators that approach this issue.
