Depresión e intensidad del dolor crónico en ancianos

El estudio tuvo como objetivo estimar la prevalencia de depresión e investigar la relación entre la depresión y los niveles de intensidad del dolor crónico en los ancianos. Los participantes (n=303) fueron entrevistados en las salas de espera de las clínicas especializadas en Goiânia/GO. El CES-D y el BPI fueron utilizados para evaluar la depresión y la intensidad del dolor, respectivamente. ANOVA y Dunnet fueron aplicados en los análisis estadísticos. La prevalencia de depresión fue 66.0% (IC 95%: 60.7-71.3). La diferencia entre los puntajes promedios de depresión y la intensidad elevada del dolor fue significativa (p<0,001). La prevalencia de depresión es alta y parece influenciada por la intensidad de la experiencia dolorosa.
