Abstract

This research verified the existence of a correlation between mindfulness and problematic internet use (UPI) in Brazilians. It is characterized as a quantitative field research carried out in a virtual environment, in which 206 subjects participated. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and processed through SPSS. There were significant inverse associations between the UPI with total mindfulness score (ρ= -0.404; p<0.001) and with most of its facets. These results provide strong evidence that mindfulness-based interventions are effective in reducing UPI and contribute to reducing the gap in publications on both topics in the Brazilian context.
