Behavioral problems are admittedly associated to maternal depression, we advance by addressing parental practices, marital conflicts, and child social skills. The aim is to compare groups differentiated by maternal depression regarding educational practices, marital relationships, and child behaviors, considering presence or absence of signs of behavioral problems. A case-control study design was adopted; a total of 70 mother-child dyads (35 of them with depression, 35 without depression) participated in the study. Validated instruments were applied and data were treated by statistic procedures. It was verified that the group with depression showed more negative practices, more marital problems, and less social skills.
