INTRODUCTION: Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) is a rare syndrome that encompasses a set of non-progressive congenital conditions characterized by contractures in two or more joints. It may affect other body systems, leading to nutritional difficulties and necessitating the use of alternative feeding methods. The diagnosis is primarily clinical, and there is no definitive treatment; the focus is on improving the patient's quality of life and autonomy. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to report the case of a patient with AMC who experienced difficulties with sucking and weight gain, admitted to HU-UFJF following referral from the High-Risk Newborn Follow-up Program, where she was receiving care. CASE REPORT: The patient was a 3-month and 16-day-old female at the time of admission. Upon physical examination, she exhibited typical facial features, low-set ears with dysmorphic auricles, exophthalmos, ocular hypertelorism, restricted joint mobility, bilateral congenital clubfoot, and claw-like hands. An orogastric catheter was placed due to ineffective sucking and swallowing. Nutritional rehabilitation was conducted through a multidisciplinary approach involving family participation, which facilitated a safe discharge with total oral intake. DISCUSSION: Approximately 25% of patients have involvement of the oral and maxillofacial region, which can hinder feeding and require alternative nutrition methods. Rehabilitation depends on various factors and the synergistic cooperation between caregivers and professionals. CONCLUSION: AMC is often associated with other syndromes, and multidisciplinary follow-up is crucial to provide a higher quality of life and greater independence for affected individuals.
