Introduction: The viral infection caused by HSV-1 leads to the onset of herpes simplex lesions and is characterized by periods of primary infection, latency and recurrence. During the individual's life, this infection can be reactivated by several factors such as stress. The reactivation of this virus can lead to the appearance of oral lesions, mainly on the lips. In the pandemic context of COVID-19, there is an increase in psychological effects such as anxiety, depression and stress among dental students at UFJF/GV. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between stress and recurrence of oral herpes simplex lesions during a COVID-19 pandemic among dentistry students at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, an advanced campus Governador Valadares - UFJF/GV. Results: It was observed that dental students with recurrence of the virus manifestations in the pandemic of COVID-19 in great dissipation in the severe level and stress in the moderate and severe levels. Conclusion: The study demonstrates the negative impact that the period of the COVID-19 pandemic is having on this portion of the population and the relationship between these variables.
