Abstract

This research sought to analyze and rethink the stereotyped view of heteronormativity in Brazil, which is still very present in our society and, consequently, the representation of this hegemonic model of family / couple configuration is frequently found in the teaching materials of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL). It is noticed that affective relationships appear in books, mostly represented by a woman and a man, causing this idea to be disseminated as a “standard configuration”, thus marginalizing homo-affective unions and the most diverse family configurations of our time. However, although we have to take into account that some books are not so current, it is necessary that this representation be reshaped, since we live in a moment of change in our society and that we no longer face only the heterosexual family constitution /couple. Thus, the objective of this work was to reflect and think about how the heteronormative view can be deconstructed within the PFL classroom, in order to present foreign students with different forms of relationship between individuals and, thus, build an idea of no standard. For this, we selected a corpus consisting of two advertising pieces that approach the theme in a deconstructionist way, and from its analysis, didactic strategies were discussed, with authentic materials that allow the approach of affective relationships both homosexual and heterosexual. This investigation was based on the Theory of Social Representations and the Queer Theory, and with the concepts of Sex and Gender, Stereotypes, Heteronormativity, Culture and Interculturality.
