This essay analyzes the tension between neoliberal rationality and the construction of a common world in contemporary educational institutions. The study examines the possibilities of organizing educational and cultural projects capable of overcoming the business logic that has infiltrated the field of school education and promoted the emptying of the political dimension of education. It aims to characterize neoliberal rationality and its mechanisms in education, responsible for shaping the "neosubject," and to present formative principles for building a common world mediated by literature and education. Methodologically, it draws on Dardot and Laval theories about neoliberal rationality, Hannah Arendt concept of the common world, and Antônio Cândido and Angel Rama proposals for Latin American cultural integration. Results indicate that neoliberal rationality shapes competitive subjectivities and self-entrepreneurs, weakening the public sphere and community bonds. However, literature, as an inalienable right and humanizing force, and education oriented toward intercultural awareness can resist this logic through formative processes that value plurality, transculturation, and political formation. The conclusion highlights that educational institutions play a fundamental role in constructing the common world by forming political subjects capable of interpreting their historical-social context and collectively acting to transform reality, countering the fragmentation and competition imposed by the neoliberal model.
