Abstract

In the dark times in which we find ourselves, we seek in journalistic statements to reiterate the words of Albert Camus (1913-1960): “Life as it does not seem satisfactory to us, men die and are not happy.” The words of the German playwright and poet Bertol Brecht (1898-1956) corroborate and express displeasure: “I live in a dark time”. We brought these two authors to support us and to stand out with their poetic, critical and philosophical writing our reflections on the shadows that hover over our time: the hunger, the refugees, the wars, the childhood, the youth, the old age and the crisis in the education. The latter, result of the advancement of a politic of extreme right wing that “is cutting off rights of the workers and abandoning the struggle against the climatic change, which is precisely what can put an end to all of us” (CHOMSKY). Time of absolute purification (DRUMMOND). Shadows which images we summarize in four frightful and apocalyptic existences, in our opinion: the bomb, the beggar, the dog and the PEC 241.Four symptoms that showed us that the conditions that originated Auschwitz persist still today in all the nations and countries; so, while these conditions will persist, Auschwitz is a threat that the education cannot ignore. We need to think the contemporary education from this context of barbarism and banality of the life in general. We leave from the following premise: the impossibility of thinking about the evaluation of the education, which is a speech on the world, without thinking about the verbal context where it happens. Therefore, we turn our attention for the journalistic texts, since they influence our world vision and consequently they interfere in our evaluations. In our view, what needs to be assessed is the “Education After Auschwitz” (ADORNO) or after any other tragedy in his contemporary evidence. In all the cases, to see the shadows that astonish us in these gloomy times to which Brecht, Camus, Bandeira, Drummond, Agamben, Chomsky, Arendt, Niemoller,  Exupéry, Bhabha, Volóchinov and Adorno referred.
