Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (ICHPs) are configured as a set of practices, products and traditional knowledge that promote health care and are based on a humanized care model, centered on the person and promoting the autonomy of care. The ICHPs show positive evidence in the care of people in psychological distress and are aligned with the psychosocial care model and may constitute a proposal for redirecting mental health care practices. In this context, the present article is an excerpt from a master's thesis that had as a product the “Recommendation booklet to primary services for the implementation of the mental health care with the ICHPs approach”, which culminated in the conception of the care model in mental health. The booklet presented the experiences accumulated by the study participants using the ICHPs in the care of people who suffer mentally and aimed to assist primary services in the implementation of mental health care with the ICHPs approach. The constructed care model can provide new meanings for the way of living, producing health and expanding the therapeutic offer in PHC to people who suffer mentally and can be adopted in other care spaces.
