Like a kind of parable, drawing on figures of comparison, metaphor, and images from his everyday life, Antônio Bispo dos Santos in A terra dá, a terra quer addresses the impact of capitalism and colonialism on the exploitation of natural resources, conceptualizes modern cosmophobia, and formulates his counter-colonial critique. He argues for greater harmony between agricultural practices and respect for the environment, with particular emphasis on Indigenous and quilombola wisdom.
