Abstract

In the last 20 years, the study of social movements has gained prominence due to theoretical and empirical advancements in sociology and the increase in global collective action. Paul Almeida's book makes a significant contribution to this field by presenting a typology of social movement activities and exploring various theories and approaches in the study of social movements. The author offers a comprehensive analysis of the fundamental structures related to collective mobilization, providing substantial contributions to social movement research. Almeida introduces an insightful typology of activities associated with these movements, addressing theoretical and methodological aspects on a scale ranging from the micro to macro levels of collective action. Additionally, the author provides insights into the future of social movements and the challenges that marginalized groups face in the 21st century.
