Abstract

This article discusses, taking as inspiration recent ethnographies in health anthropology and indigenous health, the notions of participant listening and imponderable. I seek to argue around the impact of these two elements on our conceptual construction, as well as how ethnographies in health anthropology update the anthropological theory. The article is structured as follows: 1) Participant listening in the ethnographies of healthcare assistance. 2) improvisation, being a native category among health professionals, and its connections with the notion of imponderable as an anthropological concept.
