The photo essay presents the cultivation of annatto and its impacts on the life of the population that occupy the lands that are on the edge of BR-101 in the stretch of the city of Teixeira de Freitas-BA. The photographs were records of the research “Beiradeiros: conflicts, vulnerability and social exclusion in the extreme south of Bahia” which aims to investigate the ways of life of the inhabitants who occupy the strips of land that lie between the farms and the BR-101 road.
