Consecuencias Presentadas por las Madres en Respuesta al Comportamiento Inhibido de Sus Hijos

Se analizaron los relatos de cuatro madres sobre sus hijos que presentaban comportamientos inhibidos al ser expuestos a entornos sociales (pares o adultos) o no sociales (objetos, sonidos o animales) desconocidos, extraños o poco familiares, en términos de clases de estímulos antecedentes, clases de respuestas y clases de estímulos consecuentes. Aunque estos comportamientos pueden proporcionar a los niños una posible sensación de bienestar y seguridad, las madres no estarían enseñándoles comportamientos de afrontamiento más efectivos, aumentando la probabilidad de adquirir y mantener un repertorio operante inadecuado que será clasificado culturalmente como patológico en el futuro del niño.
