Distress y percepción de la enfermedad en adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo 1

Resumen

El objetivo fue comprender la relación entre aspectos demográficos, económicos, clínicos y de percepción de la enfermedad con el sufrimiento psíquico de 113 adultos con DM1 de 18 años y más. Los participantes respondieron un cuestionario en línea que contenía: Diabetes Distress Scale y el Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire. Los resultados de las pruebas de correlación y comparación de medias mostraron que los participantes con mayor malestar emocional y estrés relacionado con el régimen terapéutico tenían menor renta individual y pertenecían a clases sociales más bajas. Estos puntajes se asociaron positivamente con las representaciones emocionales y cognitivas de la enfermedad como más amenazante.
