Resumo

Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar os significados atribuídos ao consumo de maconha por indivíduos com diagnóstico de esquizofrenia. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo com pessoas que fazem tratamento em um serviço especializado em álcool e drogas. Dentre os significados, foram identificados: 1) Para algumas pessoas, o uso de maconha significa a possibilidade de experimentar prazer e bem-estar; 2) Foi identificado ainda discursos sobre a influência do uso no surgimento e/ou agravamento dos sintomas. 3) Outros diziam sobre consequências sociais e rompimento de vínculos familiares e de trabalho. 4) Para algumas pessoas, o uso estaria associado a discriminação e ilegalidade
