This work aims to understand a nascent historiographical production in the 1970’s in Brazil. In the light of the debate on the “indigenous question” then in vogue, it analyses come Works by the historian Eduardo Hoornaert, more specifically Formação do Catolicismo Brasileiro, 1974, and História Geral da Igreja no Brasil, published in 1977. The place of the poor in the constitution of a writing of history, especially the indigenous and black populations, there is the debate about Catholicism and the institution of the Catholic Church at the time of the colonization of the conuntry, in the 16th century. This debate generates tensions in the very way of thinking about the past and in the operations that dimension Brazilian and indigenous historiography even today.

Este trabajo intenta comprender una producción historiográfica que nació en la década de 1970, en Brasil. En la discusión de la “cuestión indígena” entonces en boga, algunos trabajos del historiador Eduardo Hoornaert História, más de cerca Formação do Catolicismo Brasileiro, de 1974, y História Geral da Igreja no Brasil, publicado en 1977. de los cuentos pobres, a los especiales tiempo de una escuela escuela catolica y poblaciones negras, se da la institucion de la iglesia catolica en el decimosexto debate sobre la colonizacion del pais. Este debate se genera en la forma misma de pensar el pasado y en las operaciones que dimensionan la historiografía brasileña e indígena hasta hoy.
