Abstract

Toxicology as a biological phenomenon is based on three basic elements: the toxic agent, the toxicosis and the intoxication. The intoxication can be occasioned by elements as medicine drugs, cleanliness products and food, and others. Children are particularly vulnerable to chemical products exposition presents in the environment, because their curiosity and they do not know how dangerous this contact would be. The Brazilian Health Public Model has one of its basis on Health Family Program, whose professionals are doctors, nurses and Community Health Agent. The last one are in touch with community, that is assisted by Health Basic Unit, linking the community and the doctors. Thus, the goal of this study is to know the Community Health Agent perception about children household intoxication. The method used was qualitative research, intending to know the meaning about a particular subject for a specific group. The results of this paper showed that the Community Health Agent needs an specific training and safe information about intoxication.
