This article presents preliminary results from the analytical process employed in doctoral research on the design productions of André Vallias. Based on Peirce's phenomenology, especially the concept of the diagram, the analysis highlights the 'diagrammatic reasoning' in Vallias's works. Initially focused on the syntactic dimension, two examples are brought forth: the syntactic relations in the scheme of the Música de São Paulo website and the typography on the cover of Gilberto Gil's album "OK OK OK." It is concluded that the notion of the diagram, derived from the iconic sign, is crucial for understanding how design components interrelate, emphasizing syntax as a key element in expressing Vallias's visual and poetic messages.
