Abstract

The face exhibits different signs that are detected and interpreted through personal interactions. Over the last decades, there have been major advances in understanding the physiological and psychological processes involved in face perception. However, these studies still need to be better integrated theoretically within the field of Psychology. This article will discuss Bruce and Young's face processing model and some of its theoretical developments within neurological conditions that affect face processing.  The study of a group of patients allowed us to confirm some predictions regarding face processing in clinical samples, in addition to helping to understand normal facial recognition.
