Work engagement is related to the cognitive and effective nature, collaborating in the connections between workers and their activities. This study aimed to show the validity of the scale (UWES-9) of this construct, by means of internal structure analysis, of mean variance between groups and convergent variables. The sample consisted of 528 teachers from the State Basic Education of Goiás. The tests of the models indicated that the one-dimensional structure obtained a better fit. Above all, the scale presented positive correlations with behaviors related to work-related distributions, processes, and inter-relationships. The psychometric properties of the instrument recommend its future use in investigations to evaluate engagement in work in samples with teachers.
