Abstract

This article discusses the expansion of the field of Interaction Design in light of the complexity of the fi-git-al world — a term used here to emphasize the integration of physical, digital, and social dimensions of experience increasingly mediated by algorithmic systems. It argues that the contemporary centrality of human–AI conversational interactions requires the explicit modeling of conversational maturity as an object of design. The Conversational Maturity Model (MMC 2.x) is presented as a multi-level architecture of relational design, articulating four layers: micro-interactional quality (2.0), value and impact generation (2.5), cultural and systemic effects (2.6), and orientation toward meaning and purpose (2.7). The article contends that this architecture can function both as an analytical lens and as a design device for hybrid sociotechnical ecosystems, enhancing design reflexivity in addressing contemporary challenges that intertwine technology, creativity, and society. Adopting a conceptual-analytical approach, the paper contributes to the discussion on systemic design by explicitly articulating the conversational layer of interactions.
