Abstract

Introduction: Sickle cell disease has been identified as a neglected health problem globally, and its most common form is sickle cell anemia, which can cause vaso-occlusive phenomena considered clinical emergencies. From this perspective, it is believed that preparing future nurses through the use of clinical simulation for the care of sickle cell anemia is essential, as it would enable better living conditions and well-being for this target audience, as well as providing more security for the professional in the care of this population. Objective:
To evaluate the result of the application of a clinical simulation scenario regarding the gain of knowledge, satisfaction and self-confidence with the learning and experience with debriefing. Materials and Methods: Quasi-experimental study, quantitative, developed in the skills laboratoryof a publicuniversity, withstudentsapproved in the 4th periodofthecourse. The data collection instruments were a characterizationquestionnaire, knowledge assessment instrument, Experience Scale with Debriefingand the Student Satisfactionand Self-Reliance Scale. Results: There was a significant improvement in the results of the knowledge instrument before and after thesimulation. In addition, more than 90% of the participants agreed that the debriefing was able to stimulat ethem tolearn and make connections on the subject. When comparing the satisfactionand self-confidence of the students who participated actively in the execution of the clinical scenario and the students who observed, it was verified that there was a significant difference in the contente domain of the clinical simulation activity. Conclusion: Teaching based on clinical simulation was able to increase knowledge and promote students satisfactionand self-confidence regarding nursing careto patients with sickle cell anemia in vaso-occlusive phenomena.
