Abstract

The present article aims to present a case study that describes the performance of a psychiatric hospitalization patient in reading activities aimed at their enjoyment and well-being. The activities are based psycholinguistically, having been elaborated also to develop the reading comprehension and the textual awareness.Therefore, the theoretical basis of the article - reading comprehension, reading and well-being, gender myth and narrative textual type and textual awareness based on coherence (progression and thematic maintenance) is presented first. Afterwards, activities, data and patient performance are presented, constituting the case analysis. The results suggested that the patient progressed both in the language skills that were proposed and in the attitudes and degree of satisfaction during the workshop
