Necropolítica e a estigmatização do corpo negro masculino no sistema prisional brasileiro

Abstract

The present work is a qualitative bibliographical study that attempts to investigate how necropolitics and stigmatization might be determining elements for the racist and discriminatory application of the Brazilian prison system, starting with the development of racial disparity in public security. Based on existing oppressive practices, the research shows how ostensive policing has been employed daily, mainly against black people, to finalize the institutional racism that lives inside the system. Through statistical data, it was possible to discern that the black population is configured as the most discriminated social portion in the prison system and that there is a racial orientation that persists to the present day for the realization of racial inequality, strengthening institutional racism in the Brazilian prison system. The increasingly stressful police operations expose a lack of public security preparation and shine a light on a still current issue in modern society: institutional and systemic racism as a starting point for black mortality.
