Abstract

This text is a reflective exercise about interpretative keys and possibilities of non-eurocentric social analysis. The article brings some elements of the author’s field research process, where after some time and maturation of concepts, knew the Africana Womanism, thought by Clenora Hudson-Weems, which comes as a counterproposal to feminism developed by Western white women. The text presents the look at feminism and gender through the optics of authors who seek to move from traditional Western thought. With emphasis on the called Senegalese Islamic Womanism, brought by Rizwana Habib Latha, it will be possible to understand strategies of Senegalese women for their protagonism, within society and Sufi Islam, beyond a religion,  seems to be a force operating in every layer within the country.
