Arts and sciences development after Egyptian Campaign

This article analyzes the scientific and cultural effervescence period that began with the Campaign in Egypt (1798). From the work of the French savants, who accompanied Napoleon Bonaparte in this Oriental invasion, knowledge areas could be created and increased, expanding its conclusions to the public taste and, also, to the visual arts. Here we deal with some art pieces from the 19th century to identify what has been established as the Orientalist painting themes, analyzing stereotypes and colonial discourses that were disseminated with it.
