The doctrinal periodic press in Minas Gerais in the 1860s

Abstract

This analysis intends to research the political-doctrinal set of the Minas Gerais periodical press in the 1860s. To do so, I realized some terminological considerations. Then, I utilized the José Pedro Xavier da Veiga’s report on the press of Minas Gerais in 19th century, in correlation with the survey in the Biblioteca Nacional and Arquivo Público Mineiro collections, and I sought verify which political-party doctrines the Minas Gerais periodics defended in the 1860s.
