Abstract

This work aims to elaborate on some reflections about the possibilities of contribution of the Atlantic History perspectives to the contemporary historiography concerning the post emancipation period in Brazil, in a continued vision. Aiming so, we will make some questions, as well as a bibliographic survey of academic pieces that work the Atlantic exchanges, comparisons between them and its consequences. More than offer easy answers, this article contains questions about the contemporary challenges when it comes to merge two different historiographic approaches and the debate of possible ways to conjugate both perspectives, knowing that both fields can improve themselves with such encounter.
