This article presents a bibliographical review about the work of the Roman Catholic Church during the military dictatorship occurred in Brazil between the 1960s and 1980s. Analyzing official documents issued by organs linked to this institution, this article examines the transformations that took place within a portion of the Brazilian clergy in what concerns the stance taken against the actions of the military in power. In addition to oficial Church documents, this study is based on academic research by authors such as Michael Löwy, Lucília Delgado and Mauro Passos.
