Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the presence of the religious in contemporary times. For that, part of the concept of "modernity", as thought by the main exponents of classical sociological thinking, and the reflection of the place / space of the religious in the processes of modernization. After this, a presentation of one of the most outstanding forms of presence of the religious in the recent Brazilian public sphere - the political representation of religious in the Federal Chamber and the Senate, including the forms of action of such parliamentarians and the confrontations generated from of such representation. As a corpus of analysis, a series of clashes between evangelical politicians carried out during the first government of Dilma Rousseff (PT) took place between the years of 2012 and 2014, presenting them through "scenes".
