Abstract

The present work, in addition to making a rescue of the biographical trajectory of Emma Goldman, mainly seeks to investigate his article entitled "The Hypocrisy of Puritanism" (1910) and, in this sense, to understand what was, in Goldman's view, the role of Puritanism in the definition and / or legitimation of what daily practices would be said to be positive, that is, in the creation of rules of conduct socially accepted and stimulated by a given society. In addition, it is intended to understand what, according to Goldman, was the capacity for insertion of Puritanism in art, politics, and women's lives, obviously in societies marked by a culture in which such a conception, that is, the Puritanism was present.
