Abstract

This article describes collective labor experiences in the world sugarcane area of Pernambuco through the labor paralysis and mobilizations of the late 1970s. For such an approach, we use police records filed by the Pernambuco Political and Social Order Office, processes labor lawsuits filed in the Junta de Conciliação e Julgamento of Jaboatão and the records in the local and national press about the stoppage in the field to think about the organization of the rural workers, their demands for spaces of struggle and the legal repercussion of the movement with the first Collective Labor Convention in the countryside amid the authoritarian regime established with the civil-military coup of 1964.
