Abstract

This article interprets Hannah Arendt’s essays published in the literary magazine Partisan Review between 1944 and 1954, in order to establish a link between these texts and the central themes presented in Origins of totalitarianism (1951). The focus on the context of the author’s ideas, the dialogue with the fragmentary history of Walter Benjamin, and her relationship with New York intellectuals is intended to understand her considerations about mundane, tradition and history philosophy to indicate the Arendt’s attributed to the political and moral crisis of the twentieth century which began with the totalitarian system.
