Abstract

This article discusses and problematizes the representation of the work at the beginning of the itajaí valley industrialization, from 1880 to 1900, based on the study of travel literature from the nineteenth century last decades to the beginning of the twentieth century. It analyzes the formation of the German-Brazilian ideology as a historical construction, which affirms the existence of a superiority of immigrant work in relation to other ethnic groups.
