Abstract

This paper presents a brief excursion into the origin of medical practice. It focus the sociological formation of the profession and the trajectory of medical pratice in two different countries: England and Brazil. Therefore, in the first part it will be high lighted the inflexion point with in the category; and later, nuances regarding the adopted health system and the physicians' access to market before and after establishing the respective health systems. The selected countries showrelevanceconsideringtheirparadigmaticmodelsofhealthassistanceandtheirinfluenceonBrazilianpublichealth system.
