POSSIBLE MATERNITIES IN BURNED SUGAR BY AVNI DOSHI

Abstract

With the aim of promoting the articulation between Literature and Psychoanalysis, this article seeks to carry out an analysis of the literary work Açúcar Queimado, by Avni Doshi, anchored in the psychoanalytic concepts introduced by Melanie Klein and contemporary psychoanalysts who research gender issues, parenting and perinatality. The interest in this investigation arose from the observation that the theme of motherhood and its nuances has gained space in fictional works, at a time when the importance of caregivers involved in the arrival of a baby in family dynamics is being discussed. Without losing sight of the weight that is still placed on mothers, Doshi points out crucial issues for the consolidation of patriarchy from a critical and acidic perspective, which makes us rethink what motherhood actually represents. In this sense, Açucar Queimado makes it possible to discuss aspects concerning the overlap between gender, parenting and motherhood, from a critical perspective, which calls into question historically constructed myths, such as the idea of ​​maternal instinct and other sociocultural constructions that surround the mother-baby relationship.
