Abstract

This article's central axis is to establish a dialogical relationship between the theoretical implications of the so-called "Anthropology of Life" and the Amerindian thought of Ailton Krenak. A review of contemporary anthropological theory was conducted to create connections between the key concepts present in "Ancestral Future," such as "sanitary culture," "confluences," and "foresthood." The perspective of extending the definitions of the social to other domains, in contrast to the modern paradigm of opposition between nature and culture, finds in Krenak's ideas the fundamental premises for envisioning a new world and a different relationship with the beings that inhabit it - ideas that are essential for contemporary Anthropology propositions. By elaborating on these relationships, the aim is to highlight the centrality of Krenak's thinking, grounded in Amerindian ontology, as a way to rethink the modern contractarianism that underlies segregationist logics regarding the forest and its peoples, in what has come to be known as the "anthropocene" or "capitalocene."
