To understand the various forms of tourism, it is essential to consider the perspectives of the different social actors involved. This study explores pedagogical tourism from the perspective of tourism professionals and guides specialized in this sector, focusing on agencies operating in the state of Paraná, Brazil. This exploratory, qualitative research and netnography employed semi-structured interviews, along with an analysis of company websites and social media profiles. The findings reveal several distinctive aspects of pedagogical tourism, as highlighted by the interviewees, including the necessity for specific skills when working with children and adolescents; the importance of ongoing professional development in both tourism and education; safety considerations; a three-stage sales process (involving schools, parents, and students); and the value of planning meetings to customize itineraries. In terms of challenges, participants noted that while educational tourism is a growing segment, it faces significant market competition. Furthermore, the study concluded that, beyond the theoretical bases, the practice of educational tourism agencies highlights key details in planning and managing this tourism segment.
Keywords: educational tourism; tourism and education; youth and children´s tourism.
