Resumo

The quantitative description of Phaenicia eximia (Wiedemann, 1819) (Diptera, Calliphoridae), according to the month collection, is presented. Collections were performed in two areas of the Campus of the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Seropédica, RJ, from August 1993 to July 1994. Three traps baited with sardine were used. The traps were left for 168 hr and five successive collections were performed per week for three weeks per month. A total of 1.980 muscoid flies were collected: only 97 males. The sample peak was registered in april. Sardine aged 48h-72h under field conditions was more attractive to adults.
