Abstract

This article shows how themes that becomes from health, social, political and economical crisis estabilshed by the COVID-19 pandemic are present in sci-fi. The mapping of the contact points between fiction and non-finction emphasizes the sci-fi as an important space for circulation, reflection and discussion of themes that scientific and tecnological development demands for society, but not only. In addition to the techno-science approach, the genre is also a privileged place to debate humanitarian issues and global questions as, for instance, the racism and xenophobia, among other matters. For that, this article uses as the empiric object the American serie Battlestar Galactica (2004 - 2009). The metaphorical capacity of the style allied to the dialogue with the contemporaneity set the sci-fi, in general, and Battlestar Gallactica, in particular, as a reading key of the universal and contextual factors in modern world.
