Abstract

This essay presents brief considerations about the viewpoint of contact with the unidentified in two artistic productions: El ángel exterminador movie by Luis Buñuel, and Solaris novel by Stanislaw Lem. This analysis was motivated by the other one did by columnist Inácio Araújo (2020), who proposed Buñuel's films as the primary point to explain Brazilian actuality, under the influence of the COVID-19. The text here devised aimed to verify in theses productions another possibility to conceive the state of seclusion which is configured not only in the fleshly field but to see confined people as a result of an impossibility to establish contact with the unexplained. To accomplish these goals was presented theoretical references across the formalist studies of Literary Theory (Ostrananie), Surrealism and the unfamiliarity effect (Verfremdungseffeckt) used in Studies of Theater.
