Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  1. Submissions are accepted in the following categories: Dossier, Guest Authors, Articles, Short Papers, Review, Interview, and Video-Essay, and in 5 languages​​: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian.
  2. The journal accepts articles written by doctors, and co-written with doctoral and/or master’s students, as well as undergraduates and/or undergraduate students.
  3. The submission file must be in A4 page format, justified alignment, and use font Gill Sans Nova, body 12, line spacing of 1.5cm.
  4. Margins should be 2 cm on top and at both sides, and 1.5 cm at the bottom. Highlighted words must appear in italic, bold is to be avoided. Use bold only for the sub-sections of the article and for the references.
  5. The abstracts must be single line spaced and accompanied by at least three keywords. The same goes for its version in a different language.
  6. In-text citations must follow ‘AUTHOR’S SURNAME, date, page(s)’, ex.: (WILLIAMS, 1977, p. 185).
  7. Citations with more than three lines, should be separated from the main text, maintaining the following formatting: left margin 4 cm, font size 11, single line spacing and without the use of quotation marks or italics.
  8. There must not be extra spaces between sentences.
  9. The references should be listed at the end of the text, font Gill Sans Nova, body 12, with single line spacing between lines, justified alignment, separated by one space only. Formatting example: DUCCINI, Mariana; GUIMARÃES, Pedro; SUPPIA, Alfredo (Orgs.). Gêneros cinematográficos e audiovisuais: perspectivas contemporâneas (vol. 3). Bragança Paulista: Margem da Palavra, 2021.
  10. Essays should be approximately 5000-9000 words; short papers, interviews and book/media reviews should be 2000-4999 words, including notes, tables, charts and/or references.
  11. The texts must be submitted in the journal's system, after the author establishes, as Author, a login and a password. The use of the journal's template is encouraged. In any case the (s) author (s) must be identified (s) in the text.
