1) A metonímia como processo fractal multimodal

Resumo

Inglês: Thitext, in the field the cognitive linguistics, aims to present a view of the metonymic process understood as a fractal compression. I resort to rhetorical studies as the starting point and to the cognitive approach and the concept of fractal as the main the oretical framework. The methodology consisted of bibliographical research followed by the analysis of different texts – images in news report and images and sounds in multimodal narratives about English language learning. I conclude that the metonymic fractal compression is a multimodal phenomenon which manifests itself not only in thought and written text, but also ingestures, visual images and sounds.

Tradução: Este texto, na área da linguística cognitiva, tem por objetivo apresentar o processo metonímico entendido como compressão fractal. Utilizo os estudos retóricos como ponto de partida e a abordagem cognitiva e o conceito de fractal como os principais suportes teóricos. A metodologia consistiu em pesquisa bibliográfica seguida de análise de diferentes textos – imagens em reportagem jornalística e imagens e sons em narrativas multimodais sobre aprendizagem de língua inglesa. Concluo que a compressão fractal metonímica é um fenômeno multimodal que se manifesta não somente no pensamento e no texto escrito, mas também em gestos, imagens visuais e sons.
