Atalia, a rainha regente de Judá (841 a 836 a.C.)

O presente trabalho versa sobre a figura de Atalia (2Rs 11, 1-20), que foi a única mulher a governar o Reino de Judá na Antiguidade. Apesar de o texto bíblico classificá-la como uma governante ilegítima, a historiografia tem, nos últimos anos, proposto a possibilidade de enxergá-la como uma governante legítima que reinou interinamente como regente em favor do seu neto Joás que, na ocasião, era muito jovem para assumir o trono de Judá. Ademais, a historiografia também tem proposto que muito da visão negativa que se tem sobre Atalia deve-se ao fato de a maioria dos textos bíblicos ter sido escrita por remanescentes do grupo que se opôs a ela, em sua regência, e à sua casa dinástica de origem, a saber, a Casa de Omri.
