As representações sociais de Legbá, Ori, Doum e Oxalá nas letras do rapper Criolo

Abstract

This article aims to analyze three Brazilian Rap lyrics composed and performed by Criolo, between 2013 and 2018: “Doum”, “Fio de Prumô (Pade Onã)” and “Boca de Lobo”. Each of these songs makes reference to the orixás of Yoruba Candomblé, such as Oxalá in "Boca de Lobo", the orixá Doum himself in "Doum", and Legbá and Ori in "Fio de Prumô (Padê Onã)". All the songs are set in an urban context typical of large cities. Based on Serge Moscovici's concept of Social Representations, we seek to understand how these orixás, deified by the Yoruba Candomblé culture, can be represented in urban contexts and how these representations allow us to analyze them in a different context, different from that of the terreiros. and, concomitantly, anchored in the complexities of the transmitted narratives. It can be concluded that the social representations of the orixás presented in the songs are anchored in narratives belonging to Candomblé and their complexities contribute to the interpretation of social dynamics beyond the terreiros.
